To start, make sure you have the Google app updated to version 16.3.34 or later. If the update is not yet available for your device, you may need to wait until it rolls out in your region.
Once the app is updated, follow these steps to customize the widget:
- Long press the Google search widget on your home screen.
- A menu will appear—tap on Settings to access customization options.
- In the customization screen, you can modify the background color, transparency, and icon design.
- Tap on the Shortcuts option and then press the plus (+) button to add a new shortcut.
You will be presented with a list of available shortcuts, including:
- Google Translate (text)
- Google Translate (camera)
- Song search
- Weather
- Google Sports
- Dictionary
- Homework help (via Google Lens)
- Google Finance
You can add or change shortcuts anytime by repeating the steps above and selecting a different function that better suits your needs. This new feature ensures that your most-used Google tools are just a tap away, making navigation faster and more intuitive.
