The arrival of watchOS 11 brings a considerable amount of new features to the Apple Watch. The new graphics for workout progress, Live Activities, or the ability to pause rings at certain moments are just some of the changes. Another recently discovered feature is the ability to change the sound of notifications and calls received on our watch. With 17 options to choose from, let’s see how to do it.
Ringtone Options
While the Apple Watch has allowed us to make and receive calls for years, it is now, with watchOS 11, that we can change the tone with which incoming calls are announced. In the first beta of the system, we cannot use custom ringtones, like on the iPhone, but we can choose from these eight options:
- Pebbles: The default tone for the Cellular version of the watches.
- Focus: A new tone similar to the default one on iPhones.
- Jingle: The original tone of the Apple Watch.
- Nighthawk: A tone with many echoes and a short rhythm.
- Transmit: Ideal for those who prefer a more techno tone, although somewhat repetitive.
- Twirl: A shorter, lighter, and more cheerful sound.
- Windup: A tone that resembles classic watches. Very musical.
- Wonder: A fairly classic tone. Noticeably long.
Options for notification sounds
In addition to ringtones, watchOS 11 also allows us to change the notification sounds for text messages, emails, calendar alerts, reminders, and other regular notifications. Now we have the option to select from several new sounds, the list is as follows:
- Resonate
- Brilliant
- Cheer
- Flutter
- Globe
- Moment
- Scoop
- Timekeeper
- Tinker
How to change the sound of notifications and calls on the Apple Watch
Changing the ringtone or notification sound on our Apple Watch with watchOS 11 is easy. All we have to do is follow these steps:
- We open the Settings app on our Apple Watch.
- We select Sounds & Haptics.
- We tap on Ringtone or Notification Sound depending on what we want to change.
- We tap on the different options to listen to them and then choose our favorite.
The truth is that we cannot draw too many conclusions about what we will be able to do in the field of sound customization and ringtones based only on the first beta. What is clear, while this sphere disappears in watchOS 11, is that this possibility is advancing and that in autumn, with the official release of iOS 18 and watchOS 11 and an Apple Watch Series 6 or higher, we will be able to customize our watch a little more.
