How to install iOS 18 for free before its release

Like every year, at WWDC 2024, held last Monday, Apple surprised us with numerous innovations. Among the most notable announcements, the innovations of iOS 18 shone with their own light. How to install iOS 18 beta

A few years ago, developer betas were only accessible to subscribers of the Apple Developer Program, now any user with an Apple Account can sign up as a developer for free and access them for free. Not to mention that, in about a month, in July, Apple will also release the public beta.

The first step to download the iOS 18 beta is to register in the Apple Software Beta Program. It is a simple and completely free process. We just need to visit developer.apple.com from Safari, go to the Account section, log in with our Apple Account and accept the terms of the Apple developer agreement. With that, we will be ready to access the operating system betas at no cost.

Before proceeding with the installation, let’s first verify that our iPhone is compatible with iOS 18. Additionally, let’s make a complete backup of our device. This essential step ensures that our data will be safe in case of any inconvenience.

Once registered in the Beta Software Program and with the backup done, we can install the beta. To do this, we go to Settings > General > Software Update on our iPhone. In the Beta Updates section, simply select “iOS 18 Developer Beta” and then tap Download and Install.

If the update does not appear, it is always a good idea to update our iPhone to the latest available version and/or restart the iPhone. It should appear in a few minutes. Another option is to deselect the beta version and select it again, which often helps to make the update appear.

Then, to update to the following betas, all we have to do is go to Settings and install the next versions as we would normally do.
