A recent incident in the video game Path of Exile 2 has captured the attention of the community, generating a flood of reactions among Reddit users. The player N8-97, in a fit of frustration, responded aggressively to Imagineddy, a player who only wanted to acquire an item in the game’s market. N8-97, confused by the incessant activity of bots sending spam messages, insulted Imagineddy believing he was addressing a bot and not a real player.
The situation became especially sad when Imagineddy, upon receiving the abrupt response from N8-97, ended up expressing his sadness with a brief “Sorry……….” accompanied by ten ellipses, reflecting the discouragement from a simple misunderstanding. Although N8-97 tried to make amends by sending an apology message, Imagineddy had already disconnected.
The Path of Exile 2 community could not allow something like this to happen
The Reddit community quickly took action, calling for “justice for Eddy” and offering rewards to Imagineddy. Many considered him a martyr of nobility within the virtual environment, leading players to approach him to offer gifts and support. However, Imagineddy showed remarkable humility, rejecting some of the generous offers as he felt he did not deserve such attention.
Throughout the day, the story of the misunderstanding spread, and N8-97 finally apologized and contacted Imagineddy in the game, where they both agreed to meet to conclude their story with a final gesture of reconciliation. This episode highlights the ability of the gaming community to come together in the face of a mistake and the importance of empathy in the virtual space, reminding us that behind every avatar is a person with emotions.
