The Pokémon Company will host a live stream on February 27 at 6 AM PT (3 PM in Spain) to share “exciting Pokémon news” on their official YouTube channel.
The annual broadcast, called Pokémon Presents, will provide a lot of information about what’s coming in 2024.
The company broadcasts this event every year, but this one could be special: it coincides exactly with Pokémon Day, which celebrates the original release of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green in Japan in 1996.
What could they show us on February 27th in their Pokémon Direct
We don’t know exactly what will be shown, but we have some guesses. Taking into account previous Pokémon Presents broadcasts, it is likely that they will inform us about the successes of online services, such as Pokémon Go, the Pokémon Unite MOBA and the Pokémon Sleep tracking app, recently released.
But we will also have something more substantial. Most of these broadcasts include the announcement of a Pokémon role-playing game. Chronologically speaking, it is too early to expect a revelation of the true new generation Pokémon game, since Scarlet and Violet were released in 2022. Main releases usually have a three-year release cycle.
But there are still remakes and spin-offs. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were released in 2021, so it’s about time for beloved fifth generation Pokémon Black and White to get remakes. This is just a speculation, but it doesn’t seem like Pokémon Company will skip a generation in their remake. It’s Black and White’s turn.
There is also the possibility that we will have a new Let’s Go set in another region of the Pokémon universe. We could even have a new action RPG like Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
There will always be strange announcements, like a new Pokémon Mystery Dungeon or even a new Pokémon Art Academy that integrates the touch screen of Switch. Who knows… we’ll have to wait until February 27th.
