Yes, we know that Starfield will be globally released on September 6th. However, that hasn’t stopped many users from already playing Starfield on their computers and Xbox. Early access to this space epic began on September 1st in countries like Spain, although some regions in Latin America were able to try it out on August 31st. Nevertheless, none of this has prevented a mod from being available to provide DLSS support for free.
That Starfield was going to be a demanding game was no surprise to anyone. Even graphics cards like the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti struggle to run it at the highest settings. However, the well-known modder PureDark has already released a mod that allows us to use DLSS in Starfield. PureDark is quite renowned for this kind of mods, and many of them can be downloaded through his Patreon (for a fee, of course). However, this mod is free and serves to replace FSR 2 with DLSS and also Intel XeSS.
How do I install this mod within Starfield?
If you want to enjoy PureDark’s creation, you should follow these steps:
- Access PureDark’s Patreon through this link. You will find the mod uploaded on Nexus Mods.
- Extract the download into the root folder of Starfield.
- Install the Upscaler Base Plugin and place the file PDPerfPlugin.dll in the mods/UpscalerBasePlugin folder. It’s important that the files nvngx_dlss.dll or libxess.dll are also within the mods/UpscalerBasePlugin folder.
- Once in Starfield, press the End or Fin key to open the Upscaler menu. Here, you can choose between DLSS or XeSS.
- To ensure everything works correctly, remember to have FSR enabled within the game.
And that’s it! Now, you can enjoy this graphical enhancement within Starfield. If you have a Radeon graphics card, you’re in luck. Bethesda’s title is optimized to run at peak performance on these cards thanks to an agreement with AMD.
