Not all video game consoles are created equal. Even if it seems that the only thing that changes from one to another is the power, what is decided to be built into it dramatically changes the kind of games that can be made on it. If, in addition, things are done that go beyond the norm, then it is possible to create impossible games, or very difficult to conceive in another context. Such was the case with the Another Code franchise.

Another Code: Two Memories is a point-and-click game that made use of the dual screen and touch screen of the Nintendo DS to bring back a certain kind of graphic adventure that not only seemed impossible to comfortably do on a console, but also dying on PC. The critical and public success of the franchise would lead to a sequel, Another Code: R – A Journey into Lost Memories, this time for Wii, where we could use the Wii Remote for point-and-click functions. Unfortunately, this would have very little success among critics and the public, and the franchise would be abandoned at this point.

On September 14th, Nintendo announced that they were going to release both games for Nintendo Switch in a collection called Another Code Recollection. Being both enhanced versions, what caught the most attention was, how will these two games be played, especially Another Code: Two Memories, outside the context of their consoles? And today we can already find out.

Today, December 15th, Nintendo has released a demo of Another Code Recollection. Being able to export our progress to the final version of the game, this demo allows us to see the graphic and mechanical changes that have been made to both games, as well as appreciate the game if we haven’t tried it before. Something you should remedy right now if you haven’t done so, as this is the remaster of two of Nintendo’s most underrated cult classics of recent years.

In addition, if you play the demo, you will hardly have time to want more. Not when Another Code Recollection comes out on January 19th. Just over a month to enjoy a couple of cult classics that deserve more love than we gave them.
