iLife has been completely redesigned for the Mac and iOS. Apple’s creative suite of apps include iPhoto, iMovie, and Garageband and they’re all free with the purchase of any new Mac or iOS device.

iPhoto for iPad update

There are a bunch of interface tweaks for iPhoto, iMovie, and Garageband; iPhoto gets photo albums for the iPad. Previously, this feature was only available on the Mac. Now users can create photo albums on the iPad and have it printed and shipped to their home. iMovie for iPad has been updated with desktop editing features with a focus on slow motion video that’s filmed from the iPhone 5s.

Garageband gets the biggest update of all, going free for new iOS devices. Previously, Garageband was a $4.99 download but now the new version if free with in-app purchases for things like new effects, drummers, and more. This confirms our speculation that Garageband would be going free. Tracks created in the app are also synced across devices so you can continue editing a track on any Mac or iOS device.

The new updated iLife is available to download today. It’ll only be free for newly purchased Mac and iOS devices.
