A new app called Protector has arrived in the U.S. market, offering the possibility to rent armed bodyguard services in a way similar to how Uber works.
Currently, the app is available in the cities of New York and Los Angeles, and there have already been requests for its expansion to other locations within the U.S.
Users can access personalized security measures by hiring a bodyguard for a cost of 100 dollars per hour, with a minimum of five hours.
What does this private security app consist of?
This platform allows clients to choose details such as the escort’s dress code, which can vary between formal attire or “tactical casual,” as well as the option to include escort cars in the service.
The “protectors” who offer these services are active or retired members of security forces, all of them with specific permits in accordance with the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (H.R. 218).
According to the company, the professionals come from diverse backgrounds, including SWAT teams and operations in conflict zones.
The official launch of the application was yesterday, and it has already sparked varied opinions in the App Store, where some users have expressed their desire for it to expand to other regions. Additionally, a promotional video has generated interest by simulating how a bodyguard could have intervened in critical situations, such as the attack suffered by a CEO of UnitedHealthCare.
Protector was founded by Nick Sarath, a former Meta employee, who had failed in a previous attempt to create a startup that competed with Instagram.
With the aim of making private security more accessible, the app presents itself as an attractive option for those seeking personal protection alternatives in an increasingly unpredictable environment.
