If you often use Instagram’s Reels, you have probably used its templates at some point, which allow you to create your reel in just a few minutes with minimal effort. Now, Instagram has announced several updates to this feature, aiming to make its discovery and usage even easier.
Instagram has launched the first of its new features, a “template browser,” allowing users to search for Reels templates in various categories, organized into Recommended, Trending, as well as templates or audios you have previously saved.
To access this new template browser, you’ll need to start the reel creation process, tap on the image in the lower left corner of the screen to open your camera gallery, and then click on “Templates.” You can also access the new template browser through the Reels tab, by tapping on the camera icon and then selecting “Templates.”
Furthermore, Instagram aims to enhance the template editing process by adding new elements. Starting today, when you create a reel from a template, the audio, number of clips, clip duration, and AR effects will automatically be added to your reel. In the coming weeks, Instagram will also automatically add the text and transitions used in the original reel.
With this new update, users will have the flexibility to customize the elements they desire while creating a Reel, allowing them to make their new clip unique and distinct from others.
Two updates for Reels that are gradually rolling out, which will likely encourage the use of templates on Instagram. However, they might also prompt users to create the same types of videos that are currently trending. If you were tired of seeing the same content on your Instagram feed due to trends, it seems that things won’t be changing anytime soon.
