We are just a few weeks away from the launch of the new generation of iPhone, and rumors are in full swing. The iPhone 15 is almost here, and the Apple universe is about to experience a significant shake-up in its color palette.

According to some sources, the Cupertino company plans to leave behind the gold finish that has been in the iPhone lineup since its introduction with the iPhone XS in 2018. But what do the new shades and materials that will accompany the iPhone 15 have in store for us?

Color options in line with the new materials

To begin with, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will mark the introduction of a new material: titanium. Beyond being a highly versatile material, this change is expected to reduce the weight of each iPhone compared to its stainless steel predecessors. But that’s not all.

In the process of retiring stainless steel, Apple will also reportedly remove the gold color option from the Pro lineup. While this shade has been a symbol of luxury and distinction, the company seems to be considering a slight shift in direction, opting for colors and finishes that reflect the change in materials.

As reported by 9to5mac, instead of gold, Apple would opt for a new titanium finish. In addition to the well-known space gray and silver, a new gray tone would be introduced, drawing from the natural color of titanium.

And what will this new variant be called exactly? Although it’s not yet confirmed, the name that resonates in the rumors is “Titan Gray.” A choice that not only reflects the material itself but also its inherent elegance, conveying the resilience and strength it will bring to the new iPhones.

Beyond the shift from gold to titanium gray, another surprise that many of us are eagerly anticipating is the new dark blue color for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. This shade will become this year’s special color, replacing the purple from the iPhone 14 generation, instead of the previously rumored crimson color.

Apple has the tradition of introducing special colors for each generation of iPhones. We’ve seen colors like Midnight Green, Pacific Blue, Sierra Blue, and Purple. So, as some initial rumors suggested, we’re returning to blue this year with a dark variant that will undoubtedly receive a unique marketing name aligned with Apple’s branding strategy.

If these rumors hold true, it means we might not see the red color in this generation. However, it’s worth noting that it’s too early to rule out the PRODUCT(RED) finish, which is available on many of the company’s devices.

Meanwhile, what about the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus? For those not inclined towards the Pro segment, Apple plans to offer color options in black, green, blue, yellow, and pink. It’s common for the company to also add an additional color in the spring, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see a new hue emerging a few months after the initial launch.

Everything points to the big day of the iPhone 15 presentation being September 12th. The exact dates are still to be confirmed, but by the end of August or early September, Apple should send out invitations and confirm the dates. In the meantime, knowing that the gold color may return in future generations of the iPhone, we’ll be keeping an eye on the rumors and ready for Apple to surprise us with new shades for what is shaping up to be a truly impressive iPhone.
