From being a marginal curiosity, it has become a global topic of conversation, and I’m not just talking about fiction. Thanks to (or because of) the global conspiracy theories that have been following us for years, multiple theories continue to emerge that strongly impact the general public.
Now, this phenomenon has been picked up by Netflix in the docuseries The Alien Enigma, also known as Investigation Alien. Since its premiere on November 8th, it has consistently been among the most-watched on the platform globally, and more and more followers are being captivated by its theories.
Is there life beyond this planet?
The Extraterrestrial Enigma is led by the renowned journalist specializing in UFOs, George Knapp, whose main intention is to spark debates about what we really know (or don’t know) about visitors from other worlds. But the documentary is not just a review of the most famous UFO sightings in the world; it is an in-depth investigation that explores unpublished testimonies, theories about extraterrestrial bases, and a serious analysis of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP).
Throughout six half-hour episodes, George Knapp takes viewers to remote locations where strange events have been recorded and, in some cases, phenomena that defy the laws of physics as we know them. Each chapter is a fascinating new case about these phenomena. Whether you believe in all this or not, it will likely develop just a hint of doubt.
One of the most interesting chapters of the series is set in the south of Tamaulipas, Mexico, where the legend of an underwater extraterrestrial base has grown. According to some, this could be the reason why hurricanes have not directly hit this region for more than six decades. In the documentary, the journalist and his team travel to the Gulf of Mexico to investigate the phenomenon, using a magnetometer to detect anomalies in the water. Although they fail to find conclusive evidence, the data collected seems sufficient to open a new line of investigation into this mystery.
Undoubtedly, what distinguishes The Extraterrestrial Enigma from other UFO documentaries is the inclusion of unpublished testimonies from people who claim to have witnessed these phenomena up close, but who had remained silent until now for fear of skepticism. Among the interviewees are experts in aerial phenomena, former CIA officers, and ordinary citizens who have had inexplicable experiences, such as sightings of strange lights in the sky or encounters with unidentified flying objects.
In one chapter, Knapp interviews Douglas Laux, a former CIA officer, who shares details about secret investigations by the U.S. government and offers his analysis on some of the most mysterious incidents, such as the sighting of a craft of unknown origin in the Nevada desert. This, of course, leaves the public astonished at all that might be hidden from us.
In another chapter, titled Alien Waters, the peculiar belief in an underwater extraterrestrial base in southern Tamaulipas is examined. Local residents have claimed for years that aliens protect this area, preventing hurricanes from directly impacting the region. This phenomenon has led locals to coin the term “Unidentified Submarine Objects” (USOs), and has generated a series of sightings that further fuel the myth of alien presence.
Since its premiere, The Extraterrestrial Enigma has generated a flood of reactions on social media, with thousands of people sharing their own experiences and theories about UFO sightings. Of course, skepticism remains the most common reaction, but it is undoubtedly one of those documentary series that is best watched before forming an opinion about it.
