In these dangerous days that are full of modern malware threats that can actually hold your private data hostage there is some good news at last. Kaspersky Labs, which has consistently produced the highest rated antivirus programs on the market, is for the first time to release a free version of their security software.

As we’ve mentioned many times before, the best defense against modern threats is your own common sense. If you’re on Windows 10 you’ve already got Windows Defender protecting you. Windows Defender is a very capable antivirus suite and when it was put through the rigors of the Independent IT-Security Institute’s AV Tests it scored a very respectable 5.5 out of 6.0.

This means that even if you have only the bare minimum amount of protection you’re still in a pretty safe spot. If the bare minimum is not for you, however, but you don’t want to put your hand in your pocket then Kaspersky’s new offering is for you. In the same AV Tests it scored a perfect score of 6.0 out of 6.0. It is very much the perfect antivirus suite. Not bad at all for something that costs nothing.

Kaspersky Free is currently available Russia, China and Europe but will be getting rolled out everywhere soon. You can get your hands on it here but also make sure to check out the links below to make sure that you’re not making any of the common mistakes that allow hackers to gain a foothold on your machine.
