There are few controllers I like more than the DualSense of PlayStation 5. Its adaptive triggers, its vibration, the way it feels, its speaker… Sony did a good job with the PS5 controller: it even allows you to drive cars. But that doesn’t mean they want to improve it.

According to a discovery on Twitter by user “Lbabinz”, the Canadian website of Best Buy mentions a new “PlayStation 5 V2 DualSense Wireless Controller”.

“Take control of the game action in your hands when you play with the wireless PlayStation 5 V2 DualSense controller,” reads the description of the ‘new’ version.

Interestingly, the ad also mentions an included charging station, which would allow you to “easily charge it with a click”.

Features of the DualSense V2: price and release date

The new DualSense version has a retail price of 89.99 Canadian dollars, which is approximately 67 US dollars, the same price as the current version of the DualSense controller in the United States.

Therefore, the mention of an included charger could very well be a retailer’s mistake. Of course, it is also possible that Sony has decided to include a charging station for the same price as the current DualSense controller.

Although the ad also mentions an “exceptional 12-hour battery life”, it is the same duration that Sony has boasted about for the current model.

Therefore, do not expect the battery of this new version to last longer. We will keep you informed as soon as we know more about the possible new version of the DualSense controller. It never hurts to improve the current hardware.

For me, the DualSense could only be improved with two small fixes: the first one would be increasing the controller’s battery life, so that it lasts up to 24 hours (a day of gaming seems fair to me); and the second one would be improving the build quality, because it is true that the model creaks quite a bit when held tightly.
