Tim Burton has had a very extensive career in which, despite having a very unique style, he has been able to tell all kinds of stories. However, when you talk to the wisest cinephiles, most agree that there is one film that surpasses the rest of his career by far, despite not being among the most well-known of the director.

The movie in question is Big Fish, it dates back to 2003 and has a stellar cast. Ewan McGregor is the protagonist of the film, and is accompanied by Albert Finney, Helena Bonham Carter, Billy Crudup, Jessica Lange and Danny DeVito. But its cast is not the best thing it has (despite being wonderful), but it has a unique story that is worth seeing or hearing, at least once in a lifetime.

The most emotional ending in cinema in recent decades

Big Fish focuses on William Bloom (Billy Crudup), a young man who doesn’t have a very good relationship with his father (Albert Finney). Despite this, upon learning that his father is terminally ill, he returns home to be by his side in his final moments. At that moment, William will be forced to listen to him again as he tells the endless stories of his youth, which he already knows by heart. But, on this occasion, he will try to find out things that will allow him to know his father better, although for this he will have to clearly separate reality and fantasy, elements that always appear mixed in his father’s stories.

The movie tells the story of how behind a great narrative there is a great story, and how parents play to make their children’s world a much more beautiful place. Touching, romantic, and with epic moments that have even inspired the ending of Veneno (the series by Los Javis), the movie is a narrative marvel that everyone should discover at some point. You can watch it through Amazon Prime Video, where it is available.
