Imagine that you have, give or take, a million dollars, all the money in the world. What would you do with it? If your answer is “Enjoy it”, you don’t have the shark mindset that Mark Zuckerberg, the owner of Meta (formerly known as Facebook and Instagram), has. He has built an underground mansion, a luxury bunker that seems to be taken from the fantasies of a millionaire cartoon or ‘Bioshock’. And we all know how ‘Bioshock’ ends.

Zuck at the bunker

And where is he setting it up? Well, where else: in Kauai, the Hawaiian island where he lives and where he owns 566 hectares of land with two mansions, a gym with a pool and tennis courts included, and of course, a bunker. Let’s see which good house doesn’t have one nowadays, it’s a trend. This one will be connected to the mansions by a tunnel accessed through a gigantic metal and cement door, just in case a new world war starts. The usual.

Underground, the boy will have elevators, soundproof walls, his own water tanks, and secret entrances. You can’t say anything negative about Zuckerberg -not about capitalism- because, frankly, it sounds very -very- fun. That’s right. In general, the entire complex will cost him 270 million dollars (or, as he calls it, “pocket change”) and the only thing he has asked employees working there is absolute silence and signing NDAs so that no one knows exactly what is inside.

If I were David Fincher, I would already be taking notes for ‘The Social Network 2’, because, although his family is delighted and already considers the Koolau Ranch (that’s its name) as their home, the truth is that it is a megalomaniac move by the book. For now, Zuck has already had some meetings there and will have an easy time not running into anyone if he gets angry, because he will have about 30 rooms with their respective 30 bathrooms. Those are the people who will never have to go on Idealista to find a roommate. Ay.
