Marvel can’t catch a break, and despite releasing attractive products for their audience again, they seem determined to ruin everything. After such a disastrous year for the MCU, they were balancing the scales with new series and ideas. And the most anticipated one is X-Men 97, the return of the legendary animated fiction that will arrive on Disney Plus on March 20th.
Well, just a week before its premiere, Marvel has abruptly fired its creator: Beau DeMayo. The director and writer of the series has been dismissed without any explanation from anyone, as confirmed by The Verge. Although the reason is unknown, it must have been something serious, since it is very unusual for this type of decision to be made before such a premiere.
No one understands what has happened
Beau DeMayo joined Marvel in November 2021. This news was very well received by the public, as he brought a much more open perspective due to his status as an African-American homosexual, as well as being the brother of a woman from South Korea.
DeMayo turned the X-Men into comics in his own voice for 21st century stories that directly touch him, and that’s exactly what he’s done with the series, which has been acclaimed even before its premiere. “For anyone who feels different, know that we all have a Magneto inside us and we all have a Charles Xavier. We all have a part of us that wants to burn it all down, and there’s a part of us that wants to find compromise and build it up. Those comics really helped me understand my identity,” DeMayo said in June 2022.
