An insider claims that Sony plans to revive two of its most recognized franchises, MediEvil 2 and Gravity Rush 2, amid growing rumors about an event in May. Whether it will be a State of Play or a PlayStation Showcase is not clear, as the company has not confirmed anything yet.
At the beginning of this month, a new source emerged to confirm that the PlayStation event would take place in May. In addition to MediEvil and Gravity Rush, it is also mentioned that we will “probably” see something from the remake of Silent Hill 2, as we can read on Metro.
The filter in question, known as Orangee, would be a playtester who would have collaborated with Other Ocean Interactive on the supposed remake of MediEvil 2. He also expressed that said remake would be in development since 2021. However, Orangee does not clarify whether it will be shown at a PlayStation event, only that it will arrive “in May”. Will we see the game or an announcement with the release date? It is still unknown.
As for accuracy, Orangee’s track record is not exactly extensive, but it does have several things in its favor. Previously, it correctly provided details related to the movie Gravity Rush, which was shown at CES 2024 earlier this year. In March, Orangee claimed that a remaster of Gravity Rush 2 was on the way and would be shown in May.
On the other hand, seeing a remake of MediEvil 2 doesn’t seem very unlikely. Despite the original title’s remake receiving lukewarm reviews, it managed to position itself among the best-selling games in Europe during its launch week.
