If something characterizes Pokémon, it’s that it has some of the most adorable designs we’ve ever seen. All of its monsters are extremely cute. Or at least they aim to be. That’s why they are so popular among all kinds of people, regardless of cultures and generations. They are simply very adorable. It’s easy to grow fond of them and feel sympathy for creatures that seem made for us to want to cuddle and take care of them. And that’s a bit of what the new Netflix series is about.

Today, Netflix has revealed the official trailer for its new series, Pokémon Concierge. But this time, we’re not delving into the competitive world of Pokémon battles in any form. Instead, it’s something much more tranquil and kind. Because this series takes place in a hotel specialized in caring for and pampering Pokémon.

This series comes from Dwarf Studios, who previously worked with Netflix on the excellent “Rilakkuma and Kaoru.” Both series share the use of stop motion and have a very sweet and calm aesthetic, featuring adorable characters. And, as the trailer suggests, there’s a hint of a sharper humor than it might initially seem. That’s because the protagonist of the series, alongside the Pokémon, is Haru, a woman who starts working at the Pokémon Resort as its new concierge.

Of course, she’ll soon encounter all the problems that come with it. Pokémon communicate with very limited sounds, each species has its preferences and ways of expression, and she’ll have to learn to meet their needs without melting from adoration along the way. An extraordinarily tough job, if you ask us.

“Pokémon Concierge” will hit Netflix on December 28th. A perfect date, between Christmas and a new year, to watch the series with a cozy blanket and a nice hot chocolate.
