When Henry Cavill was removed from The Witcher, apparently due to creative differences with the series’ team, many thought that Netflix was going to cancel it. However, in a move that no one expected or really wanted, the VOD platform confirmed another actor instead of Cavill: Liam Hemsworth.

And it’s not just that the love for Cavill and the hatred for Hemsworth made this plan a foregone conclusion, but also that the series had concluded in its third season with a small failure that made it clear that Netflix didn’t have to continue with it. But no, they went ahead and now we have received the first images of the team working on the next season.

Goodbye to the wizard

However, Hemsworth won’t last long as Cavill. Along with the announcement of the production of seasons 4 and 5, Netflix has announced that the fifth will be the last of the series. In this way, we will be able to see Miley Cyrus’ ex-boyfriend for two seasons as the witcher Geralt of Rivia. But, it seems, nothing more than that.

We still don’t know when we will be able to see the fourth season of the series, but if they follow the usual pace of current series, it will be sometime in late 2025. This year would be for production and filming, and the beginning of next year for post-production.

To make up for Henry Cavill’s absence, Netflix has hired more people besides Liam Hemsworth in other roles. The most notable signing is Laurence Fishburne, Morpheus in The Matrix. According to their announcement, the next two seasons will cover the remaining three books that will be adapted (well, adapted in their own way) by Andrzej Sapkowski: Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and The Lady of the Lake. Let’s see how it turns out.
