Netflix boasts an incredible catalog, ranging from genres like thriller, suspense, comedy, to horror movies and series. The platform delights us with a wide array of programming. However, while new content continually arrives on the streaming service, an equal number vanishes without prior notice… and this trend seems to be intensifying.
Recently, Netflix abruptly canceled five series without any prior notice. Shows whose renewal status was uncertain fell victim to the firm grip of the red titan. And mind you, these series span various genres and cater to all kinds of audiences, making it evident that nobody is exempt from the grasp of the most popular streaming platform today.
Farewell to all these series
One of the most talked-about cancellations has been “Shadow and Bone.” The adaptation of Leigh Bardugo’s book series had garnered a legion of fans, but it didn’t survive for another season, as Netflix decided to end it for good.
However, the same fate has befallen four other series: “Agent Elvis,” “Farzar,” “Captain Fall,” and “Glamorous.” All these series were given the chance to premiere, but their poor performance numbers led Netflix to decide to end them for good.
Netflix continues its desperate search for new phenomena like “Wednesday,” “Stranger Things,” or “Squid Game” that can captivate diverse massive audiences. For now, it sticks to the trial-and-error game, offering only one season as a warning sign for its new series. But can it continue with this strategy indefinitely? It’s not very clear if Netflix will persist with this approach in the future, but for now, all we can do is resign ourselves to the cancellations.
