Netflix is a famous streaming platform known for releasing some of the best series today, but it also has a very bad reputation for canceling some of them without any hesitation. This has been happening since Netflix‘s inception, with shows like Sense8 causing public outcry. And, of course, it’s a policy that hasn’t changed a bit.

The latest victim of these policies is “Shadow and Bone,” one of the most highly acclaimed fantasy series in recent years, with a large following. After the release of its second season last March, the future of the series was uncertain. However, it’s now confirmed: there won’t be a third season of “Shadow and Bone.”

Goodbye to Shadow and Bone: Netflix’s Latest Cancellation

It seems that Netflix made the decision to cancel “Shadow and Bone” after the “poor” performance of its first season. It remained in the Top 10 for only five weeks, which seems quite low for a series with such a significant investment from the VOD service, and it also didn’t receive the same positive reviews as the first season.

However, due to the recent strike by actors and writers that affected all of Hollywood, this situation seemed to linger indefinitely, and Netflix didn’t want to announce its cancellation until now. Unfortunately, it’s now official: there won’t be a third installment of “Shadow and Bone,” much to the disappointment of its fans.

Nevertheless, both seasons of the series can still be enjoyed on Netflix. It’s undoubtedly one of the platform’s biggest bets on fantasy, and fans of Leigh Bardugo’s books seemed to love it while it lasted.
