Netflix found a golden goose with Wednesday. The Addams Family series directed by Tim Burton became the biggest new hit on the platform last year, and although the second season has been delayed due to the actors and writers strike, Netflix is already preparing a continuation worthy of its story.

But, while this happens, the streaming platform doesn’t plan to stand still. The world created by Burton about The Addams Family is about to expand with a new series from its universe: a spin-off about Uncle Fester, a character who briefly appeared in the first season and became one of the most beloved characters in the entire series.

Wednesday won’t be the only Addams to have a series

Currently, the series about the character played by Fred Armisen is in its early stages of development. They are looking for the team of writers and the specific plot of the story, but the most curious thing of all is that Netflix is not the only platform behind the series. It turns out that the rights to The Addams Family belong to Amazon, and therefore they are also on board with the project.

The first season of Miércoles achieved an impressive 250 million views last year, making it the most popular English series on Netflix. That’s why, while they are in the middle of filming the second season, which will move from Romania to Ireland and will introduce a new Addams, they have decided to expand their universe even more.

Undoubtedly, The Addams Family offers much more than just a Wednesday series. And who knows? Perhaps at some point we will see new movies of the brand with the cast of the series. Meanwhile, we hope that this new series will be as successful as its predecessor.
