A few days ago, Netflix revealed with unusual transparency the data from its first semester of 2023. Among a million hours viewed, we found that the most watched fiction on the platform during this period was The Night Agent, a series much more popular than it seems, whose success is mainly due to the American audience.
But what is the most watched Spanish series of this period according to Netflix data? Undoubtedly, it has been a pleasant surprise for a thriller that, despite not being new, went through Telecinco before landing (luckily) on Netflix. Just like it happened with Money Heist, this new life has given it an unparalleled boost. We are talking about Entrevías, one of the best series in Spain in recent years.
José Coronado in one of his best roles
Released on March 1st on the streaming service, season 2 of Entrevías reached a total of 140.1 million hours viewed in that semester, reaching the global position number 59 on Netflix and surpassing many other series with great international success. Undoubtedly, the data of Entrevías is fabulous. But what is the reason behind such popularity?
The series tells the story of Tirso Abantos, a lonely and unaffectionate former soldier who runs a neighborhood hardware store. After a family incident, he is forced to take care of his granddaughter Irene for a while, a rebellious young woman who hangs out with the wrong crowd. From that moment on, he will have to reconsider his role as a grandfather and a soldier… because one never stops being what they have been.
The series is starring José Coronado, in one of the most interesting roles of his career. The protagonist of Vivir sin permiso plays a role here very much like Clint Eastwood that suits him wonderfully, and without a doubt his fans have greatly appreciated it.
