There is no doubt that the Joker is the most sinister character in comics, and this is something that has also translated to the big screen. Over the years, we have seen several incarnations of Batman’s villain, each one more intriguing than the last. However, no matter how celebrated Joaquin Phoenix was and even won an Oscar for his portrayal, the one we remember the most is Heath Ledger’s in The Dark Knight.

The late Ledger managed to impress with his macabre appearance, revolting performance, and perverse charisma. But just when we thought we had seen everything about him, they surprise us with something new. Exclusive images of this Joker have just been released by The Batman Film News, and they are terrifying.

A truly terrifying Joker

The photographs are from a making-of album of the filming of The Dark Knight, and in them, we can see makeup tests of the actor and some preparation scenes before jumping onto the set to confront Christian Bale’s Batman

Undoubtedly, it’s clear that Heath Ledger’s Batman was a unique phenomenon in cinema. And even though Joaquin Phoenix’s was very well done, and we are still waiting to see what Barry Keoghan will do with his own Joker who will eventually face Robert Pattinson’s Batman, it’s clear that none can surpass his exceptional portrayal.

Beyond the cinema, however, we have all sorts of interesting Jokers that we can continue to explore through comics and even through animated films and series. For instance, we can rediscover at any time the wonderful one from the animated series of the nineties, voiced by the macabre Mark Hamill. Yes, the Luke Skywalker from Star Wars.
