Ubisoft is holding a big Assassin’s Creed event on September 10, 2022. However, there have been quite a few rumors leading up to this event. One, in particular, is about a new Assassin’s Creed game coming to the franchise, named Mirage.
A popular YouTuber, J0natan, announced that Assassin’s Creed Mirage, a brand new game that developers haven’t yet confirmed, will be released in Spring 2023. According to him, the game will take place in Baghdad in the late 800s. Apparently, the game franchise is aiming to return to its roots with this game, with no leveling and a few other gameplay tweaks.
Another reporter, Jason Schreier, commented on the post clarifying that, according to his sources close to the developers, some of the reported leaks may be true, while others simply aren’t. According to Jason, the game’s name, Mirage, and the tentative release date are accurate. Also, the setting in Baghdad and the return-to-basics approach is also true. However, the rumors about being able to explore multiple cities divided by deserts and rivers are false.
Another rumor is that the player character will be Basim, the character from Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, in his youth before he joined the Hidden Ones. Some of the back-to-basics changes players can expect will be no dialogue choices or the ability to change the character’s gender.
There are leaks that suggest that this back-to-basics approach for the new game has something to do with a potential remake of the original Assassin’s Creed. Some believe this remake will be a part of Mirage’s Season Pass. The leaks also suggest there may be a Constantinople DLC.
For now, these reports are nothing but rumors, but we hope to learn more at Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed event in September. During this event, we’ll also be learning more about the ambitious Assassin’s Creed Infinity. So there’s a lot of exciting news coming for fans of the franchise soon.
