Brendan Fraser has achieved what seemed impossible this year. The actor who disappeared from the map after suffering brutal harassment from a sector of Hollywood has won the Oscar for best actor. And no wonder: his performance in The Whale won over audiences and critics alike with his spectacular performance.

But what will Brendan Fraser’s next role be after Darren Aronofsky’s film? The actor has had a few years of minor and somewhat overlooked roles, such as Doom Patrol’s Robotman. However, now that he’s won an Oscar he can afford to give far superior performances… and that’s what we’re all looking forward to.

Brendan Fraser doesn’t know what he’ll do in the future

Speaking to People at the Greenwich International Film Festival, Brendan Fraser said he’s not sure what his next role will be. He still has a bit of a hangover from the Oscars and wants to decide wisely what his next performance will be:

“At the moment I don’t have anything, I’m really being choosy at the moment.

Although he has been somewhat sparing with his words, it is clear that Fraser’s decision is a logical one. After such a big high, he will have no shortage of offers to return to the fray, but any misstep could make The Whale look like a circumstantial film in his career. As such, he must be smart in his choices.

At the moment, there are no new projects for Fraser on the horizon, but many are dreaming of a return of The Mummy thanks to his newfound fame, which would be a great opportunity for Universal Pictures to revitalise one of its biggest franchises.
