Nintendo Switch 2 increases internal storage to 256 GB

Nintendo has confirmed that the new console, the Nintendo Switch 2, will feature 256GB of internal storage, which represents a significant increase compared to the limited 32GB capacity of the original console. This increase is a response to frequent complaints from users, who often found themselves forced to delete games due to the limited available memory. This was especially problematic for games that require more space, such as NBA 2K24, which takes up 59.2GB by itself.

More space in your game library, what a danger!

The Nintendo Switch 2 not only addresses the issue of internal storage but also will allow players to expand their capacity using microSD Express cards. However, it is important to note that it will not be compatible with regular microSD cards. Although Nintendo has not disclosed the exact capacity limits for the Express cards, a recent presentation showed 256GB cards, suggesting that there could be broader options in the future. For reference, the original console was eventually able to support cards of up to 2TB.

With increased storage capacity, users will be able to enjoy a variety of confirmed titles for the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. Among them are big names like Street Fighter 6, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, and Mario Kart World. This not only promises a smoother gaming experience but also allows players to have more than one game installed without the constant worry of deleting files to free up space.

Without a doubt, the Nintendo Switch 2 aims to satisfy its fans and enhance the previous user experience. This new console promises to make a milestone in Nintendo’s product line, offering more than just an improvement in graphics performance and gameplay.
