This Monday, Tane Producciones and Fortune Films Productions have unveiled the exciting official trailer for Camino Negro, a film that addresses the historical struggle of miners in the Bierzo and Laciana regions, which is one of the biggest labor struggles that have taken place in Spain during the last century, and is a reference for the whole world.

Inspired by the homonymous novel by María Luisa Picado, which is based on real events, this film production promises to capture the essence of a community facing the difficulties of mining. Undoubtedly, it is a film that will make us reflect on the importance of preserving your rights as a worker.

A dramatic film about a historic event

Directed by Luisje Moyano, Camino Negro was filmed at the end of last year in El Bierzo. The plot delves into the events of the 60s, focusing on the mining strikes that marked an era and the brave women who also defied adversity. Prominent actors such as Cuca Escribano, Arantxa del Sol, Deborah Gil, Antonio Mayans, and Rafa Castillo-Romero, among others, bring to life the characters created by Picado in his literary work.

María Luisa Picado, originally from Extremadura, presents her book as a testimony of the mining life rooted in the communities involved. Her narrative covers everything from her memories of her youth in Matarrosa to the strikes of 1968 in the Gaiztarro Anthracite mines, as well as the demands of women in a context of struggle and resistance.

The movie Camino Negro not only explores confinement in mines and strikes, but also the decline of the mining sector, evidenced in the mobilizations until 2012. This visually striking narrative will soon arrive on the big screen, offering a moving and revealing look at a crucial part of Spanish mining history.
