We are getting closer to the end of One Piece, and although that means there are probably still several years left for the manga to conclude, little by little the chaotic and complex world of One Piece that has given us so much joy over the past decades is being organized.
One of the greatest mysteries that remain today is who Imu really is. The red-eyed figure behind the Gorosei made their first appearance in chapter 906 of the manga and episode 885 of the anime, and since then, it has become very clear that they are an all-powerful being representing the greatest possible threat to both Luffy and the entire world of One Piece. This is a character who hides in the shadows and controls everything from the throne of the World Government. But what do we know exactly about them?

The Secrets Behind Imu
With his appearance carefully concealed, presenting himself only as a humanoid silhouette covered by a cloak and with an elongated crown, the only thing we can see of him are his red eyes. But this mystery not only covers his physical identity, but also his abilities, although it is suggested that he possesses immense powers, superior to those of the Five Elders and even to those of the Yonko.
Throughout the manga, it has been hinted that he has the ability to transform into a colossal creature and use telepathy, in addition to possessing the Mother-Flame, a weapon capable of destroying entire islands, as seen with the annihilation of the Kingdom of Lulusia. But the truth is that not much has been confirmed about it yet.

One of the most intriguing aspects of Imu is his hatred towards those who carry the initial “D.” in their name, who are considered enemies of the gods. This visceral enmity has manifested with characters like Trafalgar Law and Monkey D. Luffy, and it is speculated that this “D.” is connected to the legend of Joy Boy, which would explain the intensity of Imu’s hatred. Additionally, in recent chapters of the manga, it has become clear that Imu has a special interest in Nefertari Vivi, the princess of Arabasta, possibly due to her ancestor Nefertari D. Lili, who also carried the “D.” in her name.
The relationship between Imu and the Nefertari family has been a recurring theme in fan theories. It is believed that Imu was involved in the disappearance of Nefertari Lili 800 years ago, and that his obsession with the Nefertari family might be related to some kind of betrayal or disagreement. In this sense, some theorize that Imu and Lili may have had a close relationship, while others even suggest that Imu could be Nefertari Lili herself, having acquired immortality or having been possessed in some way. These speculations are fueled by the physical similarity between Imu and the representations of Lili.

Despite the numerous theories circulating among One Piece fans, the true nature of Imu remains a mystery. Some believe that Imu could be one of the original rulers of the World Government who obtained immortality, while others suggest that Imu might be related to mythological or demonic figures. The only certain thing is that One Piece still has much to reveal, and Imu’s identity will be crucial to understanding the workings of the World Government and the events of the Void Century, a key period in the series’ history.
