Not everything was going to be series and movies on Amazon Prime Video. Jeff Bezos’ streaming platform is also gearing up to become a global television reference, and its first major step in Spain has been to acquire Operación Triunfo, the quintessential music format that has been captivating fans across generations since the early 2000s.
That’s right, OT has moved from TVE to Amazon Prime Video, and it hasn’t done so with the intention of staying the same, quite the opposite. The program has completely changed its format, as well as its schedule and the way it is presented. This way, it represents a complete revolution while maintaining certain aspects unchanged, such as Noemí Galera’s direction.
A completely changed format
The first change has been who is in charge: the host will be Chenoa, the former student of the academy who has had a long career in television over the years. Nevertheless, everything will still be live, both the main gala and the post-gala shows, and afterward, it will be available on the platform for on-demand viewing.
Additionally, there will be a 24-hour live stream from the academy on YouTube, along with daily summaries presented, this time, by the singer Xuso Jones. Everything will be done with the intention of maintaining the program’s good image and avoiding controversies from previous years, although it remains to be seen how they will fare on Amazon Prime Video.
But when will it premiere? The chosen date is Monday, November 20th, at 10:00 PM. On that day, Gala 0 will take place, and each new week will bring a new gala where we will see how the students have faced the challenges of each week in this musical boarding school.
