I think we can say with total certainty that fans are not happy with Overwatch 2. The game, which continues its journey and was released just a year and a half ago, does not have the unanimous support of the community… And it’s not like Activision Blizzard is making decisions to change the course of the tide. Now they have made the decision to modify the main game mode to the anger of regular players.
Game (even faster)
As much as Competitive remains the lifeblood of ‘Overwatch 2’, people still play, above all, Quick Play matches. Just a casual game without much responsibility, you know. However, from today the 12th until the 14th, Activision Blizzard has released a “hacked” version that can only be played this weekend with a faster version in honor of Sombra.
The idea is to make everything much more fun and frantic for a couple of days, with the possibility of relaunching the game mode again in the future if it works. In summary, all matches will be much faster, with the initial time reduced by 70% and everything moving at breakneck speed. Competitive play and the arcade mode, however, will remain unchanged.
The anger of the most ardent fans is more or less logical: after all, they are going to play quick matches to prepare strategies to use in competitive play, try out new characters, or improve without the constant pressure of being able to lose levels if they make mistakes. There are those who believe that it could become just an option instead of an obligation, those who believe that if something is broken it doesn’t make sense to fix it, and only a few are sure that it can be fun. For now, it doesn’t seem like this hacked version will be back anytime soon while Blizzard is desperate to figure out how to make ‘Overwatch’ popular again.
