This event starts on Thursday, May 12th and will last until Friday, May 20th, and during this time, you’ll see an increased occurrence of water pokemon. You’ll also have an increased chance of encountering a special Lapras wearing a scarf. New pokemon Dewpider and Araquanid will also make their first appearance during the water festival. We’ll also be able to encounter the legendary pokemon, Tapu Fini, who is the guardian of Poni Island, in Raid battles throughout the event.

Also, for the first time on Pokemon Go, players will be able to encounter a shiny Binacle in the wild. These unique pokemon can be spotted easily thanks to their bright green and pink coloration that makes them stand out.

Along with all these new encounters and pokemon, there will also be new Global Challenges and research projects with special rewards. You’ll encounter many more water-type pokemon during the event, so keep your eyes peeled for Slowpoke, Magikarp, Lotad, Wailmer and more. Raids will also feature many water-type pokemon such as Qwilfish, Feraligator, and Ludicolo. Five-star raids will feature the legendary pokemon Tapu Fini, whereas mega raids will feature Blastoise.

This Water Festival is shaping into a fun event, with many exciting new encounters waiting. If you want to read more about what to expect from the Pokemon Go Water Festival, click here.
