Apple has reintroduced a very useful feature in the third beta of watchOS 10.2: the ability to change watch faces with a simple swipe gesture. This functionality, which had been removed with the arrival of the initial watchOS 10, is once again available, providing us with greater flexibility in changing the information we see on the screen.

A much simpler change that we can now recover

Originally, in watchOS 9, changing the watch face was as simple as swiping left or right. However, this function was altered in later versions because it was sometimes too easy to accidentally switch faces. As a result, Apple updated this interaction to require a long press before being able to swipe and change the active watch face.

Now, with the release of watchOS 10.2 beta 3, Apple has sought a middle ground between the new system and the previous method. We can opt to return to the quick change system for watch faces. To do this, we simply open the Settings app on our watch, go to Clock, and enable the option to change faces with a swipe.

This way, whether we prefer quick changes or something to prevent accidental switches, we have the options. It’s worth mentioning, as we’re discussing this topic, that in the early days of the Apple Watch, changing faces was very important. However, now, with concentration modes altering the active face or even shortcuts that can modify it, the need to manually change it is lessened.

In any case, remembering how to properly clean the bands of our Apple Watch and considering that watchOS 10.2 is available for both developers and public beta and will officially arrive in a few weeks, now we can choose. A small change so that the technology on our wrists adapts to our needs and preferences.
