“Harry Potter” is one of the most important fantasy sagas of recent decades, if not the most important. Despite its fairly recent films, a remake of its story in a live-action series has already been announced. Max, HBO’s new platform, will be responsible for bringing this fiction to life. But when will we be able to see it?
While we’re getting announcements that the last season of “Stranger Things” or “Wednesday” won’t arrive until 2025, Max is doing their homework, and it seems that the next Harry Potter series will also come that year. As they’ve announced, it’s slated to be released sometime between 2025 and 2026, with priority given to the end of the first year.
Each year, a new season will be released
Once the first season is released, Max won’t keep us waiting as long as Netflix did. Every year, a new season will be launched, faithfully adapting each of the seven books in the series. They’ll take the opportunity to explore many aspects from the books that couldn’t make it to the original films due to time constraints.
Additionally, for the upcoming Harry Potter series, they won’t cast actors we’re already familiar with from the saga. Instead, there will be a complete recasting to narrate an original story and avoid building connections that lead nowhere. Therefore, we won’t see Daniel Radcliffe or the rest of the main cast from the movies, but in return, we’ll have new actors to admire.
While we await this new adaptation of Harry Potter, Max is already preparing numerous other shows, such as new spin-offs of Game of Thrones, an anime adaptation of Rick and Morty, or a series derived from The Big Bang Theory. There’s certainly no shortage of ideas or established intellectual properties to explore to the fullest.
