Beyond Marvel and DC Comics, few comic-based movies have achieved the same success as Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, a 2010 film starring Michael Cera, based on the comic book by Canadian cartoonist Bryan Lee O’Malley. The movie has a legion of fans, just like the comic, so the series had to come at some point.
“Scott Pilgrim Takes Off” is the upcoming Netflix series where the legendary character returns with a stellar cast of supporting characters. It will be in animated format and feature the same cast (providing voices) as the movie, so the anticipation couldn’t be higher. And the trailer just released by the platform makes it clear that the hype is justified.
When is Scott Pilgrim released?
The animated series from Netflix will arrive on the platform on November 17th. There’s less than a month left for us to see it, and the trailer makes it clear that it will be an addition to the movie and the comic. Despite starting from the same premise, it will have a quite different outcome, always with the fans in mind.
The story of Scott Pilgrim is that of a young man who, to win over the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers, must defeat seven evil ex-boyfriends, each in different ways. In the cast, we find once again Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ellen Wong, Chris Evans, Kieran Cullin, Satya Bhabha, and Brie Larson. A star-studded cast that makes it clear Netflix has put everything into making it the next big success on their VOD service.
Behind the series is, of course, Edgar Wright, the director of the live-action movie and other great films such as Baby Driver, Last Night in Soho, Shaun of the Dead, and Hot Fuzz. We can’t wait any longer to see it.
