Helldivers 2 players on PC are lucky, as Sony has confirmed that they have canceled the upcoming mandatory PSN account linking update for Helldivers 2. This has been the soap opera of the weekend.

There has been a lot of discussion and writing in the past few days about the mandatory creation and linking of PSN accounts for Helldivers 2 players on PC. Within hours, the good reputation that Helldivers 2, one of the best games of the year according to our analysts.

Although it was confirmed months ago, the PC community recently found out that it was necessary to create and link a PSN account in order to continue playing the successful Arrowhead title.

After players realized it, thousands of negative reviews followed on Steam and Valve decided to offer refunds, even for those who played the game for more than two hours (and up to 100 hours, there was no time limit set).

In addition, the game was released in over a hundred countries that do not have the possibility to create a PSN account.

The CEO of Arrowhead has sung the mea culpa

On Twitter, the CEO and Creative Director of Arrowhead, Johan Pilestedt, partially took the blame and said that the team is in talks with Sony to find a solution. “I have my share of the blame,” Pilestedt wrote on Twitter yesterday.

“I don’t absolve myself of guilt in all of this: it was my decision to disable account linking at launch so that players could play. I didn’t make sure that players were aware of the requirement and we didn’t talk enough about it,” he said in the tweet.

And now it turns out that the reaction and conversations from the community have paid off, as Sony seems to have given in on this matter.

According to the official PlayStation Twitter account, the upcoming mandatory PSN account linking update has been canceled, and apologies have been offered for the situation.
