Very good news for all PlayStation users and customers, as the Japanese company has given us the kind of news that brightens the morning: more benefits for the same money.

Sony has launched its own movie streaming app for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers have a great advantage: members have access to a library of up to 100 Sony Pictures movies without ads and at no additional cost.

A renamed app with many movies

Previously known as Brava Core, an application that provided access to a wide variety of recent and classic Sony Pictures movies on Bravia XR TVs and Xperia devices, will be rebranded as Sony Pictures Core on these devices starting next year, and it’s already available today as the Sony Pictures Core app on consoles.

Once gamers sign up for Sony Pictures Core, they can buy or rent up to 2,000 movies directly from the console.

At the launch date, these will include box office hits such as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Uncharted, The Protector, No Bad Vibes, Bullet Train, and Ghostbusters: Afterlife, among others.

Sony says that upcoming releases will include movies like Looper, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, Elysium, and Resident Evil Damnation. The company also plans to add some Crunchyroll anime content to Sony Pictures Core, and has added that benefits for all PS Plus subscribers are on the way.

An agreement to calm the spirits

This should help ease tensions after the significant price hike in PS Plus subscriptions. We’re talking about the most expensive fee nearing 200 euros per year, as you may recall.

Given Sony’s strong push to turn its gaming franchises into movies and TV series, it makes sense for those franchises to come back to PlayStation.
