Last year, Spotify made a big announcement about the arrival of audiobooks on its platform. In the company’s own words, their goal was to become the epicenter of everything related to audio. It’s not an easy task: Amazon’s Audible dominates the audiobook world with an iron fist. However, Spotify remains determined to challenge them. They’ve made it clear with this news: Spotify will have more than 150,000 audiobooks available to all its subscribers.

The music platform has significantly improved its audiobook offerings, and now, those with a paid account can access them at no additional cost. For now, it works like this: there will be up to 15 hours of listening per month for all subscribers, regardless of the payment plan you’re on. And if you find it insufficient, Spotify has also introduced another option where you can purchase more hours if needed. Similar to music, the platform allows us to download audiobooks for offline listening.

Additionally, Spotify has stated on its website that they are exploring new ways to ‘unlock‘ access to books. Could this mean a new subscription tier focused solely on audiobooks? Regardless, having a paid account currently provides more than enough access to enjoy any literary work.

How do I search for a book within Spotify?

Searching for any book is quite easy and simple: you just have to go to Spotify’s search bar and type its title. Currently, our available catalog covers 70% of the best-selling books today, and each work included in the plans will be marked as “Included in Premium.”

As of now, the service is not active in Spain, but its arrival is expected in the coming months.
