The fourth season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds promises to surprise fans of the series with an unprecedented episode in which the entire cast will appear as puppets. This ambitious production, which the creators have revealed, took more than six months of work to create, reflecting the commitment of the filmmakers to this particular installment. According to co-showrunner Henry Alonso Myers, the process was a significant challenge that required multiple specific meetings for puppet handling, ensuring that every detail was perfectly executed.
An episode that required a lot of technique behind the scenes
Myers shared in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that, although he already had some experience in puppet manipulation techniques, the entire team had to learn as they progressed in the production. “We had to have long conversations about how to handle the puppets and organize a whole team of puppeteers,” he explained. This distinct production dynamic has highlighted the importance of collaboration and creativity in the development of the episode.
The actors have also shared their impressions about the script, which generates great anticipation. Christina Chong, who plays La’An Noonien-Singh, described the experience of reading the script as “insane.” Jess Bush, who brings Chapel to life, expressed that it was “pure joy,” and Rebecca Romijn, known as Number One in the series, called it an “incredible script.” These positive reactions reinforce the idea that this special episode will be a memorable addition to the franchise.
Currently, the third season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is airing on Paramount Plus, with new episodes available every Thursday. The fourth season is scheduled to be released in 2026, and a fifth season has already been approved, ensuring that the adventure in the Star Trek universe continues.
