Today, we’ve received news of significant importance. Thanks to Bloomberg, we’ve learned that Stig Asmussen, the director of the Star Wars Jedi saga (including Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor), has left Respawn Entertainment. “Stig Asmussen has decided to leave Respawn to pursue other adventures. We wish him the best of luck.”

The news has surprised all gamers because Asmussen is one of the most prominent figures at Respawn. In fact, he has been with the company for over a decade, and just a few months ago, he was even talking about the future plans for the saga.

“We had a fairly clear idea of the timeframe in which we wanted Survivor to take place, what the risks would be, what the tone of the game would be, what challenges Cal would face, and how the team would influence that. And there are also ideas for what we could do beyond that,” he commented to IGN, alluding to a hypothetical third installment, where obviously he would no longer be involved.

What happens now with Star Wars Jedi?

It appears that Stig Asmussen’s departure is heavily influenced by everything that happened after the game’s release. As is well known, Star Wars Jedi Survivor was plagued with numerous issues and errors in both its console and PC versions. This resulted in the final version of the game being very disappointing.

Interestingly, it was just last week when Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment announced a new patch that addressed a multitude of issues in the game, making it appear almost like a new game. Most likely, this is how the title should have been released initially, rather than how it was received.
