On January 25th, Tekken 8 made its debut in stores, nine years after the popular Tekken 7. The highly anticipated sequel has managed to dominate in sales, but that hasn’t saved it from receiving some criticism. One of the most repeated criticisms has been the notable absence of regular characters within Tekken. However, a recent leak indicates that this could be resolved in its future DLC.
The user Shootmans, a well-known dataminer, posted on his X profile a post explaining his findings. On one hand, he reaffirmed the inclusion of Eddy, a capoeira fighter who has been in the saga since Tekken 3. This character had already been confirmed by Bandai Namco themselves, so it hasn’t been a surprise.
Afterwards, the clues found in the code suggested that we would see a fighter from Poland, another one from Thailand skilled in Muay Thai, and a Vale Tudo fighter from Australia. Taking these data into account, it is most likely that the next playable characters we will see in Tekken 8 are Craig Marduk, Lidia Sobieska, and Fahkumram.
Marduk was first introduced in Tekken 4 and has since appeared in every game in the franchise. On the other hand, Sobieska and Fahkumram are characters that first appeared in Tekken 7 through DLCs. At the moment, Bandai Namco has not confirmed or denied this information, so we will have to wait and see if the leaks turn out to be true.
