The Tesla store in Salem, Oregon, has been the victim of violent acts on two recent occasions, including a shooting attack and acts of vandalism that resulted in broken windows and a burned vehicle.
These events have led to the intervention of the FBI, marking the second occasion in which federal forces are involved in incidents related to the brand, despite such acts not being considered federal crimes.
From beloved brand to hated company because of its CEO
In a broader context, there has been an alarming increase in vandalism incidents at Tesla stores around the world, largely as a protest against Elon Musk
At the beginning of this month, a similar incident occurred in Colorado, where an act of sabotage was also attempted. The involvement of the FBI in these cases has raised questions about the motivation behind these acts, although local police have not been able to confirm whether there is a political background.
The outlook for Tesla is changing drastically. The negative perception of the company has grown, slightly fueled by its association with Musk, whose actions are seen as increasingly controversial. Previously admired by many, Tesla is now reviving a hostility that could affect its brand image and, eventually, its sales.
It is anticipated that the recent acts of vandalism, combined with the decline in the appreciation of their vehicles, will negatively impact sales in the next quarter. Despite Tesla’s stocks still holding a high value, there is a growing fear among analysts and investors that public dissatisfaction and market challenges may translate into a tangible decrease in sales figures.
Rumors suggest that this could trigger a wave of sales in the used vehicle market, further lowering the resale price of the brand’s cars.
