Tesla has issued a recall for all Cybertrucks due to a significant issue with the cantrail, a decorative trim piece that has reportedly been falling off the vehicle.
The company has started notifying owners about the corrective measures, but many are expressing dissatisfaction with the proposed solution.
For an investment ranging from $80,000 to $100,000, customers expect a higher standard of quality and service.
Tesla Recalls All Cybertrucks Over Cantrail Issues
The remedy, which involves removing the trim, applying butyl patches, and reattaching the trim with new nuts, has proven to be inadequate. Owners are reporting unsightly weld burn marks and noticeable gaps in the panels where the fix was applied.
One New Jersey owner, already experiencing issues with the cantrail, shared images of his vehicle post-repair, highlighting the unacceptable gaps and marks resulting from the treatment.
A significant concern is the lack of clarity about why there are weld marks since the official fix does not include welding. As such, it raises questions about potential quality control issues at Tesla.
Additionally, Cybertruck owners with vehicular wraps face another dilemma; they will be responsible for re-wrapping the trim after the repair, as Tesla has announced it will not cover this cost.
This added expense has frustrated customers, especially considering they have made a substantial financial commitment to purchase the vehicle.
Despite these quality control problems, many Tesla owners, particularly those with newer models like the Cybertruck, are early adopters willing to tolerate various inconveniences. However, the response to this recall has sparked criticism, suggesting that Tesla should improve its customer service and product standards to align with the expectations of its premium vehicle clientele.
