Today, the popularity of a game could be measured based on the number of mods that have been made for it and their quality. Dark Souls 3 could be a good example of this, especially if we consider the incredible mod we bring you today, Dark Souls: Archthrones.

At first, this mod is much bigger than you might think. The team behind it, Archthrones Team, is composed of conceptual artists, writers, programmers, composers, and even voice actors, all from the Dark Souls fan community.

The Arhctrhrones Team defines the mod as “a new version of the Dark Souls universe“, in addition to having “its own story based on the deepest secrets of the Dark Souls myth”. As an added bonus, the team claims to have included “mechanics and animations from other From Software games“.

Dark Souls: Archthrones takes inspiration from the level structure of Demon’s Souls, from which it also takes its name. Thus, players will be able to progress through each throne without a set order, regardless of the difficulty.

Within Arhcthrones, we will also find five worlds inspired by the Dark Souls universe, with characters from the saga reimagined and very iconic areas from the trilogy. Players will also be able to face 17 new bosses and test in battles some of the combat mechanics that have been introduced in the mod: perfect blocking, deflection, power-up, guard break with step back…

If you want to try it, you’ll be glad to know that the mod is available completely free through NexusMod. However, you also have the option to support them financially through Patreon and Ko-Fi.
