For us, Mirage is the best thing that has happened to the franchise in years. After finishing the game a few days ago, I can assure you that it is one of those titles worth playing in this game-filled 2023.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage fans have discovered an adorable detail in one of the game’s feline friends, as it appears to have the Assassin’s insignia on its nose.
As reported by Eurogamer, this detail was first pointed out on the subreddit r/AssassinsCreed by the user suckashelfboi101, who wrote: ‘Is this cat’s face supposed to resemble the Assassin’s emblem or what, because that’s all I can see. Perhaps something the developers added for fun?’
An Assassin’s cat or a beautiful tribute?
There is no doubt that there is a resemblance to the iconic logo, but some believe that the origin of this striking snout could go even further. As shared by the Twitter account @CreedScholars, before the game’s release, a fan on Facebook shared a photo of a real-life cat with the same facial markings and asked if it could be added to the game.
‘It belonged to my friend, and it recently crossed the rainbow bridge. I’ll happily pay with coffee and Timbits to any team member willing to put in extra hours to include it,’ they wrote back then.
At the time of writing these lines, it has not been officially confirmed whether the in-game cat is truly based on the real-life one or if it’s just a mere coincidence. We have reached out to Ubisoft.
For us, Mirage is a brilliant, bloody, patient, focused, and exquisite adventure in Assassin’s Creed that will linger in memory and, hopefully, serve as a solid foundation upon which simpler and more focused installments of the series can be built.
