If you’ve been playing Call of Duty for quite some time, you’re going to love this news: it’s time to revisit them. Unexpectedly, Activision has fixed the matchmaking for some classic titles to make them compatible not only with Xbox Series X | S but also with Xbox One.
Thanks to this move, games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops 1, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 are experiencing a new lease of life.
For example, the original Black Ops had over 127,000 players concurrently yesterday. This figure is incredible, especially considering that it’s a title from 2010, meaning it’s almost a decade and a half old. Similarly, Modern Warfare 3 has received a similar reception, with over 80,000 players currently connected. Black Ops, on the other hand, has around 11,500 players.
There are no statistics available for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but considering its importance within the Call of Duty series, it’s not surprising that a few thousand users are also connected to the multiplayer of this classic (even though it’s been 14 years since its release, can you believe it? It may seem like it was just a few years ago).
All of these Call of Duty games are currently on sale with discounts of up to 70%. So, in addition to the relevant matchmaking on Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One consoles, we also have the price reduction on many of them. Who said that backward compatibility doesn’t make money?
