Back in 2020, Dan Houser announced his departure from Rockstar Games. The news was a real bombshell as it meant the departure of one of the co-founders of Rockstar Games and a crucial figure in the birth of Grand Theft Auto (back when the company was still BMG Interactive).
After that significant announcement, players have been closely following every move made by Houser with his new studio, Absurd Ventures. Now, thanks to information published by BeGeek, it appears that Houser has made some impressive catches from his former company.
Firstly, the co-founder of Rockstar Games has brought Michael Unsworth on board, the former vice president of narrative at Rockstar Games. His work was crucial for both Red Dead Redemption games, as well as contributions to GTA 4, GTA 5, and LA Noire. He has been with the company for a staggering 16 consecutive years.
In addition, Houser has also brought Lazlow Jones on board, a long-standing figure at the company. With over two decades at Rockstar Games, Jones has been involved in numerous games as both a producer and a writer. Moreover, he’s famously known as the radio host across various stations in Grand Theft Auto games. It’s worth noting that Jones departed from Rockstar in 2020, although this information has only surfaced recently.
Despite these high-profile hirings, very little is known about Absurd Ventures, Dan Houser’s new company. Apart from a brief teaser shown approximately six months ago, information about the studio remains scarce. However, what we do know is that the announcement of GTA 6 is expected within the next week and a half. And that’s already big news.
