Twenty years ago, it would have been unthinkable to see a Japanese composer in a Spanish video game, but this barrier is becoming smaller and is producing great games like Prelude Dark Pain. The video game developed by Quickfire Games features Kumi Tanioka, a composer known for famous titles such as Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, Final Fantasy XI, Minecraft, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The result? An authentic success on Kickstarter.
In just over 12 hours, the Seville team has pocketed the 40,000 euros they aimed for as their initial funding goal. At the time this article is being written, the amount has already reached 61,000 euros in just 5 and a half days, so it seems that the tactical RPG is on track to become one of the major Spanish fundraising successes on the crowdfunding platform (especially considering that there are still 31 days left in the campaign, a lot of time ahead).
True to form, there are quite a few tiers available for any player to access the one they prefer, from a basic one of 15 euros, where it is obtained digitally, up to another one of 300 euros, which includes a multitude of physical rewards (and is already 33% sold out). You can check them all here.
The soundtrack of Kumi Tanioka is accompanied by Isaac Montes, the Sevillian composer who teams up with the Japanese artist. Together, they have created different scores to bring sound to the world of Estátera, a universe where we will control Soren and his allies in the fight against evil.
If you like Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre, be sure to check it out. It looks really impressive, combining the best of the classics with those more current games that have captivated millions of players (with XCOM as one of the great standards).
