Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing, a truck racing game released in 2003, has returned to the public’s attention following its recent release on Steam. This title, which has become synonymous with bugs and quirks, has received both ironic and positive reviews from users, who highlight the notable absence of collisions in the game, allowing players to pass through obstacles and compete against a static rival.
A Terribly Bad Game That Players Take with Humor
In the initial version, the player’s competitor remains still while they complete the race. At the end, a cheap trophy appears on screen along with the famous phrase “YOU’RE WINNER !” This peculiarity has been the subject of multiple comments in reviews, with players mentioning their addiction to driving in reverse despite the absurdity of the game. One reviewer wrote: “I became addicted to driving backwards, I did it for about an hour just to hear the deafening noise of the truck’s engine.”
Margarite Entertainment, the publisher behind this release, has issued a statement confirming that it holds the rights to Big Rigs and plans to release other titles considered classics on Steam. However, the announcement has also been overshadowed by the company’s lack of recognition in the industry, leading some to question its legitimacy. Margarite’s statement indicates that they are excited about the public’s response and intend to introduce titles like Limbo of the Lost and Afro Samurai 2, which are listed among the worst games in history.
With this news, those familiar with the world of video games are wondering what other surprises Margarite Entertainment has in store for us, and whether these games will truly reach a new level of fame, even if it is for the wrong reasons.
